Sorry for the silence for a while. Eugene and I have been busy and not taking many pictures worth showing.
At church last month, we were going through the book of Job. The sermons are downloadable for free online here. It was a wonderful talk for people who feel that they are struggling with life right now, or for anyone who is wondering how to think about this weighty topic. The fact of the matter is that if we look around, it is hard for a day to go by without hearing of some tragedy or injustice that happened. Often times, it makes us wonder if there is any hope at all in this world.
The sermons on Job are a powerful reminder that
1) God is all powerful. He allowed suffering to happen to Job because Job was the most faithful servant. He allowed Job to be tested by Satan, and knew that he would remain faithful. perhaps, some of us may be tested in our lives too, and God want us to be faithful to Him and not question His ways.
“Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding. Who determined its measurements—surely you know!Or who stretched the line upon it?" Job 38:4
2) God is a puzzle to us at times
We cannot expect to understand God fully. We cannot say to God -- if you explain this to me, I will trust you. We live by God's terms, not my our own. In this fallen world, there will be many things that are far beyond our understanding. But the bible tells us that we can trust that God is always fully in control of everything that happens in this universe. He is sovereignly working all things out for His glory.
Do listen to the sermons and be encouraged to persevere through all seasons of life.
