Adopted by God

I heard from our friends Mark and Megan Collins that they had been accepted to adopt a precious little girl from China.  We were so excited for them and to think about what an impact they would be to this child.  Mark and Megan have a fun family with three children, Caroline, Lawrence and Judson.  Megan used to be my running buddy... but she's moved on to greater things like running marathons and moving to Louisville where Mark is in Seminary.

Their adoption was a power reminder to me of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  This little girl from China has special needs and was rejected by others and placed in the orphanage.  But imagine the love that she has now received from her excited new parents, who have been waiting for her for months.  She will be raised as one of their own-- Emma Grace Collins is her new name.  In the bible, God Himself adopts us!  All of us, who know Jesus were once lost and walking in sin, deserving of condemnation.  But God himself, out His grace and mercy, adopted us to be His sons and daughters in Christ.  We are God's children in Christ.  When I see christians go through the process of adoption, putting in time and money, I see the love of God through them in giving new life to another person.
If you would like to think more about what the bible says about adoption, you can read "Adopted for Life" by Russell Moore.

I am so thankful for the Collin's witness to the gospel through their adoption.  You can read more here.
They still need financial support and it would be such a blessing to them if you would consider being an instrument of the Lord in this adoption process.
