As Zachy and I took our weekly morning walk to Bishan Park, I was filled with joy just being able to spend this very moment watching him roll in the sandpit. The Lord has been so gentle and merciful to me. He has given me eyes to see His greatness in every sphere of my life and changed it completely. It has allowed my life to be so full, so rich, so joyful and so transformed.
As I meditated on our bible study (on 1 Peter: which some of you - laura, adrienne, emily, brooke, mo, jenny - would know well since it was the first book we studied in our ladies group!) yesterday, I started to give thanks to each one of my friends whom I have sorrowed with, grieved with, persevered with, prayed with and cried with in dark times, you have taught me to value our inheritance in Christ above everything. Your examples of steadfastness and standing firm has brought so much praise and glory to our Lord Jesus Christ. It has strengthened my faith and allowed me to view life for what it is - a journey of dependence on our Saviour. And that is what has made life so free, so joyful and so meaningful.
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed." 1 Peter 1
I have learnt that truly joyful people are those who know and love Jesus deeply and are looking forward to being with Him in eternity. Seems pretty simple but yet we fail at that all the time. Truly joyful people are not those who live whining and pining for the next best thing that money or good grades can buy.
Having the right view of the future helps us enjoy the present days. Zachy exemplifies this with his enjoyment of a DIY popsicle = )) !! Give thanks for everything the Lord has made in this earth. Enjoy it, but never let it come close to replacing God Himself, who is far greater than anything.
