During the past few months, I have had the privilege of meeting with some juvenile offenders in DC's prisons system. Once a week, along with two brothers from church, I visit a halfway home for these youths.
We spend an hour with the youth in Bible study. It's a wonderful opportunity for us to get to know the youth and share the gospel with them. They have had difficult experiences but, by God's grace, some clearly desire to turn over a new leaf.
One thing we continually emphasise to the youth is that the ability to change their lives for the better does not ultimately come from their own will power. Only the gospel has the power to transform lives. Indeed, the gospel is the ''power of God unto salvation''. The gospel of Christ's death and resurrection is powerful. By believing the gospel, we can be changed from being rebels against God to those who worship Him with our lives.
