Farewells

Joan and Jonathan O Neil
Afiya and Eden Anyabwile

DC is a really transcient place. In the 2 years that we have been here, we have said hello and goodbye to too many people. The good thing is that in spite of the fact that people are always moving, we know that the friendships remain and we are glad to have had our paths cross for a season. Well, today I just thought I had to write about two couples that have left / will be leaving soon.

First, the Anyabwiles. Three things that truly stand out most about them: i) Kristie and Thabiti have taught me so much about good parenting. Just by observing their children, Afiya and Eden at the dinner table and at play, one can immediately see what good work they have done in raising their children. What a joy it is to be around them and the girls and reading the stories that the girls write on their computers! ii) Humility - they are the most unassuming couple I know who really bring a fragrance to other people's lives, iii) Love for others - Thabiti and Kristie truly care for people and have a great way of making people feel comfortable and offering advice and words of wisdom that we all need once in a while. Eugene and I treasure the friendship and will certainly plan a trip to Grand Cayman to visit soon...

Second, the O'Neils. Jon and Joan are friends who will be there for us no matter where we are. They have been so willing to share their lives with us, praying for us and always standing by us. We will miss that and much more... It has been a blessing to have developed deep relationships with them just in the past 2 years - of course seeing how the Lord brought them together in marriage was a highlight of the 2 years! We will miss the karaokes, the kenyan food, and all the craziness... so please visit us soon.

Claire & Eugene!
We sure miss you guys and are thankful for your friendship. The Lord has been gracious in allowing us to get adjusted quickly. The church family here has been a huge help and blessing in this transition. Give Jonathan & Joan our best. Have they left yet?
Blessings,
Kristie
